How to Start Your Blog/Website and Monetize It?

Starting a blog today is one of the easiest things. Before you think I am recommending you to learn any coding, then know that you can make the website even you have zero knowledge of coding. Yes, it sounds surprising, but it is true.

If you are planning to create a website for your personal use or business, then you might have come across various resources that recommend you to spend a hefty amount of money to get your website. Still, you will be glad to know that you can get your website for FREE of cost.

Apart from that, if you want a professional website, then that too you can get at a very low cost.

If you don’t know anything about websites, then let’s start with the basics.

Things You Need to Build a Website

Domain name

A domain name is generally a kind of address that your potential users use to reach your website. For example, if you want to search for anything on the internet, you type google.com in the browser. You need to claim a unique address for your personal blog or business.

Hosting

After registering your domain, the next step is to find a hosting service where you can host your website. There are many hosting services available like Bluehost, GoDaddy, etc. from where you can purchase the hosting according to your budget or need.

CMS

As I am here to help people like you who don’t know anything about coding, the next thing I want to introduce you to is CMS. CMS stands for Content Management System.

There are many CMS available that let you build a website without any coding. WordPress is currently the most famous CMS in the world, and you will be shocked to know that more than 75% of sites were made in WordPress. And the other best part is the world’s top websites were also using WordPress, so there is no chance that you will not give a try to WordPress.

So these are three primary things that you need to build a website.

Free vs. Paid Website

Before you know about the above things in detail, you need to know whether you need to go with a free website or paid one. Well, if you just want to try out things, then a free site is the best option for you, but if you are serious about your website, then there is no harm in buying a domain.

Buying a domain as soon as possible has multiple benefits like you will secure your domain name before anyone registers it in the future, and another one is domain authority. Domain Authority or DA sounds new to you, but for now, understand that your domain age affects the ranking of your website.

For example, if you purchase your domain today, then after one or two years, it will have more value in comparison to the domain that you buy in the future. You will understand it in more detail in my upcoming posts.

If you ask my suggestion, then I will recommend you to register a domain for yourself. You can register your domain at a very cheap price. It is a thing that you can totally ignore, but if any domain that you want to register and you don’t want to lose it, then make sure to register as soon as possible.

Though registering a domain is totally up to you, let’s move on to other things.

When you choose to go with the free website, then you will get a domain name like yourdomain.wordpress.com or yourdomain.blogspot.com, etc. but when you purchase a domain name, then you will get a professional address like yourdomain.com or yourdomain.org or yourdomain.net.

So one of the most significant differences between free and paid domains is professionalism and trustworthiness. Paid domains are more trustworthy in comparison to free ones.

I recommend you to go with paid ones, especially if you are planning to sell any service or product online.

If you don’t have any idea about your content, then feel free to go with a free domain.

The next thing is hosting that you can claim again for free but know that free hosting accounts come with various limitations.

Instead of choosing any random free service, I like to suggest WordPress and Blogger by Google. These are some of the most trustworthy sources to create a free website with free hosting.

WordPress and Blogger both have their pros and cons. For instance, WordPress is simple and easy to use, and SEO friendly but comes with limited space while blogger is a bit complicated to use in comparison to WordPress, but you will get unlimited space.

I am using WordPress for four to five years; maybe that’s the reason why I found Blogger bit complicated, but you can give a try to both and choose the one that you are comfortable with.

If you find the above information interesting then don’t forget to read the next blog that will help you to choose a domain. Let me if you want any other information.
